The sleeper coaches which are going to be rolled out later this year by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will come fitted with CCTV cameras. “Cameras will be fitted at entry and exit points of all sleeper coaches,” said Former General Manager of ICF Sudhanshu Mani. Furthermore, he said that these are measures taken to improve passenger safety and security.
In the year 2018, as per reports by The New Indian Express, the ICF has rolled out 2,333 coaches with the majority being LHB sleeper coaches.
The capacity of ICF was of mere 1,700 coaches but has, now, remarkably improved to make 3,000 coaches in the next year and is projected to go upto 3,300 in the next two years.
The measure follows a sleuth of measures by Piyush Goel-led Railway ministry to improve the efficiency as well as public service delivery of the railways. Recently the Minister had asked ministry officials to evolve a system, on the lines of air-ticket booking mechanism, to enable people to know the details of the vacant seats or berths in the train.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
