Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday (17 July) slammed the current CM Jaganmohan Reddy over the decision to renegotiate the power purchase agreements (PPAs) for solar and wind projects signed during the tenure of Naidu's government, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Denying the allegations of favouritism while signing the contracts, Naidu said, "We had acted in accordance with the central government guidelines. There were no irregularities but Jagan's government misinterpreted the facts to blame TDP."
The comments from the former CM came after the new government decided to renegotiate the PPAs in certain deals, citing anomalies. Over the issue of wrongly signed price contracts, Naidu asserted that it was because of his government's efforts that the tariffs on solar and wind power had come down. Ever since coming to power CM Reddy had been pushing for a review of the PPAs.
