In a fillip for India's capacity to fight against the surging COVID-19 cases, ITC Limited has joined forces with Linde India to airfreight 24 cryogenic ISO containers, each of which will have a capacity to carry 20 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen across the country, reports The Economic Times.
The two private sector majors will airfreight the containers from Asian nations. Other than ITC Limited, the Tata Group is also importing 24 cryogenic containers.
In addition to this, ITC Limited has placed orders to procure oxygen concentrators from the distributors. These will be imported into India and supplied to COVID-19 care centres. It will meanwhile also be importing oxygen generators to be installed at COVID-19 hospitals.
ITC Limited's paperboard factory in Bhadrachalam has commenced the supply of oxygen to neighbouring areas in Telangana.
In a tweet from its official handle, the conglomerate has said that it is committed to supporting the Government and will continue to explore other avenues to help address the emerging challenges.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
