The Central Government has approved Patna Metro’s detailed project report (DPR). The Patna Metro Rail project will cost around Rs 17,800 Crore out of which centre and the state will have to bear 20 per cent each. For the rest, a loan would have to be taken.
“After going through the details, we will submit a proposal to the Centre in which the state government will provide information about funds it will invest from its kitty for this project, ” Urban Development and Housing Department Minister, Suresh Sharma said, as reported by Metro Rail News.
The DPR plans to have 33.1-km-long tracks having two corridors — east-west and north-south. The document says that it would take five years to complete the project from the day of inception.
The Urban Development department reported that funding the project wouldn’t be an issue as many international investors have shown interest in the project.
The department has started the process of setting up Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), which will be the executive body of this project.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
