Assam To File Cases Against Tablighi Jamaat Attendees Who Now Test Positive With COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday (6 April) said the state from now onwards was going to file cases against all those who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin and would now test positive with coronavirus.
As per an ANI tweet, Sarma said, “From now onwards, we will file a case against all those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi and who test positive for #COVID19.”
The Minister also said the state authorities had received names of 831 Jamaat attendees from Assam and they had collected the samples of 491 of them.
“We've contacted Mosque Committees to identify remaining people and collect their samples,” he added.

Updating the media on state’s tally of Covid-19 confirmed cases, Sarma said there were a total of 26 positive cases in Assam and they had tested about 2000 sample so far.
“No #COVID19 case has been reported in Assam in the last 24 hours,” the Minister said.
