On 30 November, India’s silicon valley will be hosting India’s first ever night drone race. The drone race has 30 registrants from India and abroad who will be taking part in the event. The venue is the iconic Palace Grounds located in the heart of the city.
Apart from the 30 professional racers who are from within the country, three companies from Sweden and one from Israel will be competing in the race as well. Winner of the race will be given a cash prize of five lakh rupees.
To organise the event, the Government of Karnataka has partnered with Indian Drone Racing League (IDRL) which falls under Bengaluru Tech Summit 2018.
Deccan Herald quoted Minister for Information Technology (GoK) KJ George as saying, “Karnataka is going ahead with the drone race as part of the tech summit so that the ecosystem can flourish along with aviation industry. We have already started using drones in various sectors such as surveillance, agriculture and town planning.”
Deccan Herald quoted the Adviser to the Department of IT, Raj Kumar Srivastava as saying, “High-speed racers can fly their drones at 80 km/hr and up to 30 feet high. It will happen both day and night, which will be telecast live on Doordarshan.”
A trial run will be conducted a day prior to the event.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
