On Saturday, the Times of India had reported that the wife of the Bengaluru techie who tested positive for COVID-19 had escaped from a coronavirus quarantine facility and travelled to Agra. The report caused much outrage on social media.
However, when Swarajya reached out to the woman’s family to get her side of the story, it said that the allegations made in the TOI report were false. According to the woman’s family, she is waiting for her test result.
The earlier version of this report, based on the TOI article, said that the woman had tested positive for COVID-19. The error is regretted.
Please read our full report on the issue, based on our conversation with the woman’s family, here.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
