A major blow might be waiting for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in East Delhi where its star candidate Atishi Marlena is trailing against ace cricketer Gautam Gambhir who fought the elections as Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate.
Amid the elections, Atishi had accused Gambhir of circulating an indecent pamphlet about her, which had generated a storm of sympathy on social media.
Gambhir has promised to rid the East Delhi of the infamous Ghazipur landfill site, while also setting up a campus of the Delhi University in the East Delhi region as presently the students from the area have no other option but to travel to the faraway North or South campus of the University.
It should be noted that the BJP had registered a sweeping win on all the seven Lok Sabha constituencies from Delhi in 2014 elections. The party seems set to repeat its stellar performance in 2019.
