After ace Indian footballer, Sunil Chhetri made an emotional appeal to the fans on Twitter asking them to come to support the team and fill the stadium, thousands rushed to the stadium wearing the home teams colours to cheer them on in their match against Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup 2018.

This is nothing but a small plea from me to you. Take out a little time and give me a listen. pic.twitter.com/fcOA3qPH8i
— Sunil Chhetri (@chetrisunil11) June 2, 2018
Seven thousand tickets were available for the game and were sold out days before the match after the tweet went viral with celebrities like Virat Kohli retweeting Chhetri’s message to emphasise the point.
The video which was tweeted under the handle @chetrisunil11 has been retweeted an estimated 60,000 times, said Twitter India on Wednesday ( December 5).
"Abuse us, criticise us, but please come to watch the Indian national team play. To all of you, who have lost hope or don't have any hope in Indian football, we request you to come and watch us in the stadium.", said Chhetri, in an emotional video message.
Chhetri made the appeal after a mere 2,500 fans turned up to watch their previous game.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
