China Replaced 90 Per Cent Of Troops Deployed In Eastern Ladakh After They Were Badly Affected In Extreme Cold

China's People's Liberation Army has rotated 90 per cent of its soldiers and brought in fresh troops after they were purportedly badly affected the extreme cold conditions in the area reports ANI.

Since April-May 2020, China has deployed over 50,000 troops close to the Indian territory in eastern Ladakh and has maintained them despite the limited troop's withdrawal from front locations in the Pangong lake sector.

"The Chinese have brought in fresh troops from the hinterland to replace the troops who had been there for the last one year. Around 90 per cent of their troops have been rotated," sources mentioned to reporters.

Citing the harsh cold conditions in the region due to high latitude for this rotation, the sources added that Chinese troops were getting rotated on an almost daily basis in conflict points in the Pangong lake area last year, and their movement had become very limited.

The Indian Army stations its troops in the high altitude areas for a two-year tenure, and around 40-50 per cent of soldiers get rotated every year. The assignment of ITBP soldiers in these conditions is sometimes much longer than two years.

India and China have deployed troops against each other in eastern Ladakh and other areas along the Line of Actual Control since April-May last year. They have engaged in several face-offs caused by the Chinese aggression.

After the initial Chinese offensive, the Indian side also countered strongly and ensured that they are kept in line at all places.

India surprised the Chinese troops by seizing the strategic heights at the lake's southern bank in August last year, from where they dominated the Chinese.
