Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday has constituted a special task force headed by the state Chief Secretary K.Shanmugham to come up with an action plan to attract investments from multinational companies that are planning to derisk their supply chain post COVID-19.
In a statement, CM Palaniswami said that many corporations from countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and the US are planning to diversify their operations to India. He directed that all necessary steps be taken to attract new investments into the state and create employment opportunities for the youth.
The task force, which will submit its first report within a month to CM Palaniswami, is expected to outline the measures that needed to be taken to attract investments to Tamil Nadu.
The task force has been entrusted with task of identifying potential investors, formulate guidelines for expeditious single-window clearances for projects, design special incentive package for attracting new manufacturing unit and identify key infrastructure projects including dedicated industrial townships necessary to attract investments.
The task force will include representatives from the international business associations and companies from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and the USA. In addition to that, secretaries of finance, industries and MSME departments, and the commissioner of commercial taxes will be a part of the task force.
