In a move that can ensure quick justice in cases of crime against women, the Yogi Adityanath government has proposed 100 special fast-track courts in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
According to a report in the Times of India, "This was a commitment made by us in our Sankalp Patra, and we are working to fulfil it," said Law and Justice Minister Brajesh Pathak. He also revealed that the project would cost Rs 400 crore.
Pathak said that they have proposed to establish a special investigating unit of 1,000 women officers to probe and aid speedy disposal of cases of crimes against women. Besides this, 1,100 other posts of various cadres have been proposed at the fast-track courts.
There are 183 fast-track courts in Uttar Pradesh, but the additional 100 will solely deal with cases filed on crime against women.
