A Google employee at Bengaluru office has tested positive for coronavirus, reports India Today.
The information was confirmed by Google India who reportedly said that the employee was at the Bengaluru office for a few hours before showing symptoms.
"We can confirm that an employee from our Bangalore office has been diagnosed with COVID-19. They were in one of our Bangalore offices for a few hours before developing any symptoms.
The employee has been on quarantine since then and we have asked colleagues who were in close contact with the employee to quarantine themselves and monitor their health,” said Google.
Google India has also said that they have asked its employees in Bengaluru office to work from home on Saturday (14 March) amid the situation.
Earlier, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Thursday (12 March) confirmed that the 76-year-old man from Kalaburgi in the state's northern region died of coronavirus, which marked the first coronavirus death in India.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
