Culture Ministry To Kick Off Second Round Of E-Auction Of Gifts To PM Modi, Proceeds To Go Towards Namami Gange Project

A total of 2,772 gifts received by Prime Minister (PM) Modi as the head of the state are to go under the hammer in the second edition of an e-auction organised by the Ministry of Culture, The Hindu reports.
The announcement was made by the Union Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel who said that the auction is planned from 14 September to 3 October on the portal www.pmmementos.gov.in.
The auction will include 576 shawls, 964 angavastram, 88 pagris and various jackets along with portraits if the PM and other artworks. The prices for the artefacts will range from Rs 200 to Rs 2.5 lakh base prices and are currently on display in the National Gallery of Modern Art.
In the first such auction, over 1800 bids were received for the various articles gifted to the PM and like the last auction the proceeds from the sale will be directed towards the Namami Gange project.
