The Saurashtra coast has been touched by the 'wall cloud' region of the cyclone before the landfall began.
'Wall clouds' are clouds that drop lower than the regular storm cloud. They are a lowering of a solid deck of clouds and signal the initial stages of potential funnel clouds and tornado formation.
The authorities have relocated nearly 100,000 people from eight coastal districts to temporary shelters in preparation for the cyclone.
To carry out relief and rescue operations, 15 teams from the National Disaster Response Force, 12 teams from the State Disaster Response Force, and personnel from various branches of the Indian military have been deployed, including the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and Border Security Force (BSF).
Because of concerns about the cyclone causing high tides, people have been forbidden from approaching the sea. Lifeguards have been stationed on all beaches.
The Gujarat government reported that a total of 94,427 individuals have been evacuated, with 46,800 from Kutch district, 10,749 from Devbhumi Dwarka, 9,942 from Jamnagar, 9,243 from Morbi, 6,822 from Rajkot, 4,864 from Junagadh, 4,379 from Porbandar, and 1,605 from Gir Somnath district.
About 8,900 children, 1,131 pregnant women, and 4,697 elderly individuals are among those who have been moved to safer locations.
Across eight districts, 1,521 shelters have been constructed. Regular medical checkups are being conducted in these shelters, according to a government statement.
