Safety trials on the extended corridor of Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda of Delhi Metro were conducted on 5 February (2019) and the line is expected to be operational soon, reports Financial Express (FE).

"Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety S K Pathak inspected the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda section of metro on 5 February and has granted the approval," said a senior official to News18. The corridor is being developed as part of Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 project.

The new extended section is fully elevated, running for 9.41 km. It covers eight metro stations in total – Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon river and Ghaziabad New Bus Stand. There is also an interchange facility at the Mohan Nagar station of this corridor where passengers can switch to the Blue Line.

Clubbed With Airport

Commenting on the timeline for the inauguration of the metro corridor, another government official told Times of India, “We are given to understand that either chief minister or even prime minister could inaugurate the corridor but final decision is to be conveyed to us by the state government. Since work on civilian airport at Hindon Air Base is expected to be over by 15 February there would be no problem inaugurating the two projects on the same day.”
