Union Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing an emergency meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, and Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik as seven people died in the ongoing violence in north-eastern part of New Delhi.

As per reports, six civilians and one Delhi Police head constable Rattan Lal have lost lives after clashes broke out in the capital between anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and pro-CAA protestors.

Given the sensitivity of the situation, section 144 has also been imposed in north-east Delhi for one month.

Congress leader Subhash Chopra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Manoj Tiwari and Rambir Singh Bidhuri are also present at the meeting.

One of the violence makers identified as Shahrukh had brought a gun to the protest site and fired at least eight rounds at a policeman. He was later detained.
