Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was today taken into custody over a 1998 case relating to falsely framing a lawyer in a criminal case.
Bhatt was sent into custody following the directives from the Gujarat High Court, reports India Today. Apart from Bhatt, seven men where arrested including two other policemen.
Dismissed IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been detained by CID (Crime) of Gujarat in connection with Palanpur drug planting case of 1998. Probe underway after HC orders. Interrogation of Sanjiv Bhatt & seven others underway. 2 more former police officers also involved.

Sanjiv Bhatt was serving as the DCP of Banaskantha and has been accused of trying to frame a lawyer in a fake narcotics case in 1998.
Sanjiv Bhatt was dismissed from the Indian Police Services in 2015 and stays in news for his diatribes against Narendra Modi (then Chief Minister of Gujarat) administration for 2002 Gujarat riots.
