Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while speaking at the Mukhyamantri Arogya Mela in Lucknow claimed that encephalitis deaths in the state have come down by 90 per cent since his government was voted into power in 2016, India Today has reported.
Yogi stated that his government took various effective measures to improve the medical facilities in the state and also launched a massive health campaign, which helped to drastically reduce the deaths.
Similarly, Yogi added that such measures can also be undertaken to control and curb the outbreak of other diseases like dengue and kala-azar.
He added that the state government has also organised vaccination campaigns for children and treated at least 17 lakh patients by organising health fairs in the state.
The latest vaccination campaign for children would be carried out till 31 March as part of a Dastak campaign, which will involve health workers visiting primary, secondary schools to ensure that no child is left un-vaccinated.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
