The Madras High Court has banned the recital of Desika Prabandham of Acharya Vedanta Desika at Varadarajaswamy Temple in Kancheepuram until further notice, after Justice Vaidyanathan on Thursday (October 18), held a special sitting at his residence to hear an urgent case filed against the recital, despite the fact that the puja holidays have been declared for the court, as reported by The Hindu.
The judge banned the recital of the Prabandham till further orders after hearing the petitioner’s counsel R Meenal and Special Government Pleader M Maharaja representing the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
“Temple is a place of worship where anybody can pray. Unfortunately, as there is a difference between Vadakalais and Tenkalais of Iyengar community, the issue is yet to attain finality. As long as this globe exists in orbit, their differences would not be resolved. Instead of terming themselves human beings, they should first know the importance of being human,” the judge observed in his temporary order.
The high court registry informed the judge about another urgent case having been filed regarding the anointment of a Jeeyar in Srirangam on Friday (October 19).

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
