Former ace cricketer and India’s world cup final hero Gautam Gambhir joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (22 March).
He was officially inducted in the party in presence of senior leaders Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad.
In an address following his induction, Gambhir attributed his decision to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also added that he is honoured to have been given a chance to join the party.
In the recent past Gambhir has been taking a nationalist stance over a variety of issues like speaking out against civilian ill treatment of jawans in Kashmir.
He had also announced in the past his decision to bear the full educational expense of Sukma martyrs’ children.
