Cricketer Gautam Gambhir today (13 April) came out in support of Indian Army jawans in Kashmir. He tweeted,
Anti-Indians hav forgotten dat our flag also stands 4: saffron - fire of our anger, white - shroud for jihadis, green - hatred 4 terror.— Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) April 13, 2017
Gambhir describes himself as a “patriot” in his Twitter bio.
Cricketer Mohammed Kaif also lashed out against those attacking jawans, calling their attackers ‘stupid’ to think the jawans’ restraint was a weakness.
Virender Sehwag, known for being open about his views, tweeted in support of the armed forces too.
These cricketers have taken a position not popular among powerful opinion-makers on social media. One wouldn’t be surprised if they are targeted for their views in the days to come.
