Haryana Polls: Sports Persons Yogeshwar Dutt, Babita Phogat, Sandeep Singh Dominate BJP’s 1st List Of Candidates

With tickets to sports persons Yogeshwar Dutt, Babita Phogat, and Sandeep Singh who recently joined the party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 78 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, reported The Indian Express.
The list also had names of Chief Minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar and state party president Subhash Barala who will contest from Karnal and Tohana, respectively.
Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Babita Phogat got the tickets from Baroda and Dadri, whereas, former Indian Men’s Hockey captain Sandeep Singh will be party’s candidate from Pehowa.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from the US, the central election committee of the party held a meeting on Sunday (29 September) under his and Home Minister Amit Shah’s leadership, to decide the candidates for the state assembly election in Maharashtra and Haryana. However, the list for Maharashtra is yet to be released by the party.
The elections in both the states will take place 21 October, and results will be declared on 24 October.
Olympic bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt and Hockey ace Sandeep Singh joined BJP last week, while Commonwealth champion entered the party with her father Mahavir Phogat in August this year.
