The government has decided to deploy its teams of officials in the four states - Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh (UP) - following a sudden surge in the COVID-19 cases in these states, reports Times of India.
The teams of Centre's officials will assist the States in their efforts towards containment, surveillance, testing and efficient clinical management of positive cases.
Of the four States, the most-populated UP alone has 54,666 active cases, followed by Odisha which has 27,219 cases, Chhattisgarh which has 13,250 cases, and Jharkhand which has 11,577 cases.
Meanwhile, in terms of the total cases recorded so far, UP's tally stands at 2,25,632 cases, while the figures for Odisha stands at 1,00,934, Jharkhand at 38,453 and Chhattisgarh at 30,092. The death tally for UP stands at 3,243, while the figures for Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh stand at 482, 410 and 269 respectively.
The Health Ministry's decision to dispatch its officials to the four States comes as the national tally of COVID-19 patients continues to surge and has surpassed 36 Lakh mark.
