Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to expand his cabinet today (7 July) with induction of 43 new faces.
This will be the first major reshuffle in the Modi Cabinet after the NDA government won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
With the reshuffle and expansion, the strength of the Union Cabinet can go up to 81 members – that is 15 per cent of the Lok Sabha strength. The current strength of the Council of Ministers stands at 53.
Further, the strength of women ministers in the Modi government is also likely to increase with the Cabinet expansion.
