In a shocking turn of events, people in a small town Saharsa in Bihar are finding currency notes of denominations 20, 50 and 100 outside their homes with a paper slip that says ‘I have come with corona. Accept this note, otherwise I will harass everyone’, reports Hindustan Times.
On Saturday (11 April) morning in the Hatiyagachhi locality of the Sadar police station area, when people woke up and opened their door, they saw currency notes at their doorstep.
The report further states that the handwriting on the papers are quite similar which points towards the work of a single person.
The locals said that on Friday night as well twenty rupees were kept outside many houses in the same way, which was ruled out as a prank played by someone.
However, when the same thing happened again on Saturday, people took it seriously. The information of the incident was given to the police, who then started investigating into the issue.
However, people did not touch the rupee due to fear of infection. Notably, amidst the growing influence of corona-virus, many such pictures and videos are becoming viral on social media which claims that currency notes are being used to spread the infection.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
