In a press release on Tuesday (15 September) the Indian Institute of Managements have announced [PDF] a major change in the exam pattern for the 2020 test which is scheduled for 29 November.
As per the release the exam time has been curtailed from the earlier 180 minutes to 120 minutes. The exam too will be conducted in three sessions instead of the two morning and afternoon session as per the earlier norm.
Under the revised exam pattern the candidates will now get 40 minutes per section for Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation&Logical Reasoning (DI&LR) and Quantitative Aptitude respectively. The students will not be allowed to switch between the sections during the duration of the test.
The time duration for each section was 60 minutes under the earlier pattern. The IIMs have also announced an extension in the registration date till 23 September.
The IIMs may disclose further details with regards to the pattern change on 20 September, like the number of questions per section. The CAT official website will also provide mock tests/tutorials to understand the new exam pattern from October.
