In a matter of pride, the Indian contingent partaking in the South Asian Games has registered its best ever medal haul of 312 medals, while also finishing on the top position for 13th time in a row, reports The Hindu.
The 10-day-long regional multi-sporting event witnessed the Indian athletes winning away 174 gold medals, 93 silver medals and 45 bronze medals, higher than the total tally of 309 medals the national contingent had won in 2016.
However, one small dent over its performance was in terms of the number of gold medals won by the contingent, as the figure was 15 lesser than the previous tally when Indian sportspersons had managed to win an impressive 189 gold medals.
Meanwhile, following India, Sri Lanka stood at the second position in the overall medals tally with a total of 251 medals, while Nepal managed third spot with 206 medals.
