Indian-American governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, is scheduled to meet with President-elect Donald Trump today (17 November) amid growing reports that she is being considered for a spot in his administration. Various reports that surfaced in the media on Wednesday suggest that the position could well be the top spot, the office of Secretary of State.

News of the meeting, set for the Thursday morning in New York, began to filter out late on Wednesday night from multiple press outlets. The speculation ripened further after the current Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina, Lt Gov Henry McMaster, told that he and Haley are being considered for Cabinet positions in Trump's White House.
The news was also confirmed by the presidential transition team, which informed that the two-term governor of South Carolina is being considered for a cabinet position.
Haley did not support Trump during the GOP primaries and backed Sen Marco Rubio. In October, she finally said that she was voting for Donald Trump. Yet, prior to the election day, reconciliation was said to have happened.
While reactions from most Trump supporters have been favourable, some are skeptical about Haley's preparedness to serve as secretary of state. If appointed, Haley will be the first Indian-American to serve at the top spot.
Haley is the second Indian-American name being floated for a Cabinet position in the Trump administration. Former governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal is also appearing in many short lists of potential Cabinet names.
