The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched online bus booking, reports Financial Express. The services went live on 29 January 2021.
IRCTC says that the consumers will now be able to book buses and seats of their choice at the new microsite www.bus.irctc.co.in from the comfort of their own homes.
To provide the service, the corporation has reportedly tied up with over 50,000 state road transport as well as private bus operators covering 22 states and three Union Territories across the country.
A variety of buses (such as (Volvo Bus, AC or Non AC) along with amenities, routes, ratings, reviews, pick-up and drop points, bus images along with the price are displayed on the website. A maximum of six passengers can be booked in one transaction.
The integration of this online bus booking facility over the IRCTC mobile app is likely to be completed in the first week of March, which will allow passengers or travellers to book bus tickets on their mobile phones.
The step will ensure last mile connectivity for IRCTC users who can now access bus, flight, train services at the same platform.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
