The Ministry of Railways has launched the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana to provide entry-level training in skills relevant to the industry through the training institutes of the national transporter.
About 50,000 youths will be trained via this program in order to bring about qualitative improvement amongst the youngsters of the country.
75 training institutes of the Indian Railways have been shortlisted for this initiative and about 50,000 candidates will be honed over a period of three years.
The pedagogy will be concerned around four facets, namely: electrician, machinist, fitter and welder.
The initial basic training will be for around 100 hours. Based on regional demands and needs assessment, training programs in other trades will be added by Indian Railways’ zones and production units.
People who are aged between 18-35 years and have passed the class 10th matriculation can apply for this course by sending in their application. Moreover, they will be trained for this program for free.
The Banaras Locomotive Works is developing the curriculum for this training program and a nodal web portal having all the information regarding this course is under development currently, Financial Express reports.
