Ladakh’s Leh is set to get India’s first Ever Large Scale 50MWh Battery Energy Storage System co-located with 50MW Solar PV plant which will be set up by Tata Power Solar under Rs 386 crore contract, reports Economic Times.
The project will come up in Leh’s Phylang village. Its commercial operation date has been set for March 2023.
This will be India’s first co-located Large Scale BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) solution as well as first Large Scale Solar PV Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh to be set up at a high altitude of 3600 meters above sea level, the Tata Power Solar said in a statement.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply and procurement, construction of solar photovoltaic grid-connected power plant project and BESS on a turnkey basis along with ten years of operations and maintenance services.
It should be noted that Tata Power Solar is one of the country’s leading executors of solar energy projects. It has executed projects including 150 MWs in Ayana at Ananthapur, 50 MWs in Kasargod at Kerala and more. It has also won an auction conducted by Gujarat for 400 MW of projects to be built at Dholera Solar Park.
With the Let project in its hands, the company’s order pipeline stands at 4GWp with an approximate order value of Rs 2,414 crore.
