As per reports, from now on, opting for web check-in while travelling on IndiGo Airlines may cost you extra money as the revised policy will charge commuters up to Rs 800 for availing the facility.

The New Indian Express quoted tweets from IndiGo’s handle as saying, “As per our revised policy all seats are chargeable for web check-in. Alternatively you may check-in at the airport for free. Seats will be assigned as per the availability.”

However, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has reassured that they will review the fees structure to ensure it falls within the unbundled pricing framework that is in place. The airlines is already undergoing losses with the first quarter reporting a Rs 651 crore loss between the July-September period.

The revised policy that was put into effect since 14 November has been charging passengers based on the seating position. These charges are anywhere between Rs 100 and Rs 800. In the past, charges were being levied for opting window or aisle seats or for those seats that have extra legroom space.
