In a major covert strike carried out by US special force, ISIS leader and Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was reportedly in a raid on Saturday (26 October), reports CNN.
A senior US official was quoted as saying that they are yet to get a final confirmation on the kill as DNA and biometric testing is underway.
The covert operation was carried out by US special forces in northwest Syria based on inputs by the CIA. Baghdadi reportedly blew up a suicide vest he was wearing.
This news broke out after US President Donald Trump stoked speculation when he tweeted Saturday evening "something very big has just happened!"

Trump is also expected to make a major announcement at 9 AM Eastern Standard Time, related to “foreign policy”.
This led to many jocular comments on social media over Baghdadi’s death as multiple reports in the last few years have claimed that he died in various air strikes and operations conducted by the US led coalition.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
