The Income Tax Department has seized gold weighing 4.5 kg and detected unaccounted income to the tune of Rs 120 crore during multiple raids at premises connected to Christian evangelist Paul Dhinakaran, reports The Hindu.
As per the report, the gold was found at Paul Dhinakaran’s residence and the department is also looking at his companies and trusts that are situated across 12 countries including Israel, Singapore, UK and USA.
Income Tax department had conducted raids at 28 premises in Chennai, Coimbatore and other locations connected to Christian evangelist Paul Dhinakaran, a couple of days earlier.
The I-T raids were conducted based on complaints of tax evasion and foreign funds irregularities against Dhinakaran and ‘Jesus Calls’.
The premises raided include Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, and Jesus Calls ministry.
Paul Dhinakaran is the son of the late televangelist D.G.S. Dhinakaran, a popular preacher who started the Jesus Calls ministry. He currently serves as the chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology in India.
