The security forces on Saturday (25 April) gunned down two terrorists and an associate in an encounter in Awantipora area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, reports India Today.
Upon receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of some terrorists in Garipora area of Pulwama's Awantipora region, the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation that turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire upon the forces.
Meanwhile, the security forces are continuing with searches in the region.
It should be noted that the encounter comes just days after a similar gunfight that took place in Shopian District on Wednesday (22 April) in which the security forces had successfully gunned down four terrorists from the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The slain terrorists included a top commander of the terror outfit.
The security forces are continuing with counter-terrorism operations despite an outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the J&K. The UT has reported more than 450 confirmed cases, of whom five have died, while 109 have successfully recovered.
