Karnataka CM Bommai Says New Law In The Offing To Free Temples From Restrictions, To Be Introduced In Next Assembly Session

After spearheading the efforts to successfully pass anti-conversion bill, in the legislative assembly, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday (29 December) announced that the state government is planning to bring a law to free Hindu temples from restrictions.

CM Bommai said that his government will introduce the bill in the next Assembly session with an aim let temples manage their affairs and development activities with minimal regulatory oversight.

"Hindu temples are under different types of control bylaws and rules. Before the budget session a law would be given shape to make our temples free from such restrictions. Temples will be allowed to function freely, and there will be only regulations," CM Bommai said at the valedictory session of the two-day state BJP executive committee in Hubbali, reports Deccan Herald.

According to source, Sangh leadership and party functionaries have been holding a series of meeting to arrive at a suitable structure to ensure autonomy to temples. Their inputs is likely to form the basis for the proposed bill.

Speak at a meeting of BJP functionaries, CM Bommai also said that the anti-conversion bill, which was recently passed in state legislative assembly, will not just become a law, but a special task force will also be constituted to implement it properly.
