Nileshwar police in Kasaragod district of Kerala on Monday arrested a 50-year-old madrassa teacher for sexually abusing his 16-year-old daughter repeatedly over the past two years, Janam TV reported.
Six others (all in their early twenties ) were also charged under the POCSO act for sexually abusing the girl . Three of the accused, Riyas, 19, Ijaz, 20, and Mohammed Ali, 20, have been arrested by the police.
The police acted after a complaint was lodged at Nileshwaram station by the maternal uncle of the victim.
The victim in her statement alleged that her father had been molesting and raping her since three years.
A report in New Indian Express quoted investigating officer P R Manoj as saying that the girl was impregnated and underwent an illegal abortion two months ago. The doctor who performed the abortion is also under investigation as he failed to report the crime. Police are investigating whether the victim’s mother knew about the incident but did not to reach out to the police.
According to preliminary police investigation, the girl’s father was a repeat sexual offender. He was charged under POCSO act in 2017 for sexually assaulting four minor boys. Hailing originally from Sullia in Karnataka, the 50-year old man is said to have moved to Kasaragod to teach in a local madrasa.
