Prime Minister Narendra Modi while interacting with Chief Ministers via video conferencing on Monday (27 April) to discuss the prevalent Covid-19 situation in the country and the plan ahead for tackling the pandemic.

Prime Minister Modi said that Lockdown and timely measures have yielded positive results as India has managed to save thousands of lives in the past 45 days. He added that now India needs to think of the way forward as the impact of coronavirus will remain visible in the coming months.

Prime Minister Modi said that importance also needs to be given to the economy while fighting the pandemic and technology like the Aarogya Setu app should be utilised optimally during the battle.

The Prime Minister also asked the states to strictly enforce lockdown in Covid-19 hotspots - dubbed as the red zone areas. He stated that the efforts of the states should be directed towards converting the red zones into orange and thereafter to green zones.

Prime Minister Modi also emphasised that social-distancing rules need to be followed and PPE like masks and face coverings will remain part of people’s lives in the coming months.
