Two BJP workers have been murdered in Tripura after clashes are reported to have broken out between Congress, CPM and BJP party workers following the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Times of India has reported.

On Friday (24 May) a BJP worker identified as Mithu Bhowmik was killed in Northern Agartala’s Fatikcherra. This was followed by BJP worker Shibu Das being killed in cold blood on the streets of Agartala.

As per a Hindustan Times report, the state BJP leadership has claimed that the CPM machinery is behind Das’ murder.

“The opposition parties triggered violence in the state after Lok Sabha polls results were announced. Two of our party activists were killed in the violence. We suspect CPI(M) cadres committed the crime”, claimed BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya.
