Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko who vehemently opposed the abolition of Article 370 has now come out to say that Kashmir won’t be a part of India by the time the nation celebrates its 100th Independence Day, ANI has reported.
“Kashmir will not be in India when India celebrates its 100th year of freedom”, Vaiko was quoted as saying. He also attacked the BJP for “smudging Kashmir in mud”.
During the discussion in Rajya Sabha over Article 370’s abolition, Vaiko had termed it as a “day of sorrow” and alleged that India failed to keep its promise to Jammu and Kashmir made after the instrument of accession was signed.
“For the last few days the Army was being deployed. My heart is paining because Kashmir should not become Kosovo or South Sudan”, said Vaiko.
He also accused the Congress of committing a fraud in Jammu and Kashmir all these years and claimed that the Sonia Gandhi led party was killing democracy.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
