The decapitated body of a missing 12-year-old girl has been found in the Banda area of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, reports The Indian Express. The girl was reported missing on Thursday (14 March) by her family after she did not return home from school.
Her beheaded body and severed head were recovered in the evening of the same day. Prior to approaching the police, the family on Wednesday night tried in vain to find her on their own.
ASP of Sagar district detailed how the body was found, stating, "It was on Thursday evening at around 7 pm that the headless body of the girl was found lying close to her village and her severed head was found around 50-100 metres away."
The autopsy report from the post-mortem examination is now awaited to make things clear.
A police official stated that raids for suspects in the killing were ‘ongoing’ and they ‘would be apprehended soon’.
