The Centre has decide to set up a centralised technology vertical (CTV) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with an aim to help the agency in handling complex financial crimes, reports India TV.
While speaking at the first National Conference on Cybercrime Investigation and Forensics organised by the CBI at its headquarter in New Delhi, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Rs 99 crore CTV project would provide real-time support in investigation with access to data warehouses, equipped with big data analytics, data mining tools.
The CTV would be operational by next year, the minister said while adding that it will “help in getting real-time information for the benefit of interrogators,"
Singh said that tackling cyber crime cannot be left to CBI alone and emphasized on the role of NGOs and activists to join this crusade to counter cybercrime by changing the mindset of masses, an official statement said.
He congratulated the CBI for organizing the first national conference of its kind and said that people from the most peripheral and remotest regions of the country trust the functioning of the agency.
"India is still evolving as a nation and organisations, like the CBI, help add credibility to democracy. The CBI has gained a high degree of credibility over the years and it has become a benchmark for an investigation into crimes," he said.
