Modi Sarkar May Auction Benami Properties To Build Houses For The Poor

The Narendra Modi government may auction benami (without a title) properties and use the proceeds to invest in housing for the poor. Benami properties probably account for the bulk of the black money in the country.

Under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016, the government has the authority to confiscate benami property and impose a heavy penalty on them.
