Placement season in business schools is in full swing as companies are offering 10-15 per cent more salaries than last year. Some of the top schools completed the process in less than four days.
Companies are showing more interest in campus hiring with consulting and sales, the most sought-after firms are marketing and financial. The top B-schools in the country said that they witnessed strong demand for their students, as reported by LM.
“This has been a good year for summer,” said Uday Damodaran, a professor and chairperson of placement at XLRI. He added that some consulting firms hired more than 10 students thus becoming a key driver of XLRI’s campus placements. The top recruiter is said to have been Boston Consulting Group with 13 offers.
The placement rates at B-schools is not an indicator of the overall job scenario in the country. Although the signs seem positive, the big picture about placements will come to light once the top schools end their summers by the end of October.
Some of the top recruiters include the likes of Accenture Management Consulting, McKinsey & Co., Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and ITC Ltd, Citi, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Axis Bank.
