Mysuru: Construction Of Swimming Pool At District Collector's Residence Comes To Light Amid Tiff Between IAS Officers

After a public spat with a fellow IAS officer and transferred out of Mysuru as deputy commissioner, Rohini Sindhuri gave a two-page written explanation to regional commissioner Dr G C Prakash on constructing a swimming pool in her official residence during her tenure as Mysuru deputy commissioner.

In her reply, Rohini Sindhuri defended the construction of an indoor swimming pool at Jala Sannidhi, heritage property and the residence of the DC of the district, reports The Times of India.

The 2009-batch IAS officer claimed the pool's construction was a "pilot project" under Nirmithi Kendra. "Nirmithi Kendra executed the pool work at Rs 28.7 lakh out of its own funds as per its prescribed objectives to test and implement locally available resources by adopting cost-effective technology," the IAS officer said in her letter dated 5 June.

Earlier, Shilpa Nag, a 2014-batch IAS officer, who had been MCC commissioner since February 2021, announced her resignation, alleging Sindhuri was constantly calling her seniors and complaining that no work was being done in areas under MCC.

After the public spat, IAS officers Rohini Sindhuri and Shilpa Nag were transferred out of Mysuru.

The Indian Express reported that Sindhuri met Yediyurappa at his official residence Cauvery in Bengaluru and requested him to reconsider the transfer. However, the Chief Minister clarified that it was not possible to revoke the order and asked the IAS officer to take charge of her new responsibilities.
