Around 52.85 percent of the nearly seven crore unorganised sector workers who have already registered on the e-Shram portal of the central government belong to the three eastern states of West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar.
West Bengal tops the list with about 1.7 crore registrations whereas Odisha follows it with 1.11 crore registrations. Further, over 85 lakh workers from Bihar have joined the portal too.
The government had revealed back on 26th August that all of the 38 crore unorganised workers according to the Economic Survey 2019-20 will be registered on the portal.
Every registered worker will receive an accidental insurance of Rs 2 lakh. If they encounter an accident, they will obtain Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh on death or permanent disability and partial disability respectively.
About 54.31 per cent of all the registered workers on this portal are from the agriculture sector whereas 12.27 per cent and 8.59 per cent of them are construction and domestic workers respectively.
Moreover, an impressive 51.41 per cent of the total registered workers on the e-Shram portal are female whereas 61.4 per cent of the total workers are from the 18-40 years age bracket, Financial Express reports.
