In a big clean energy push for the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, state-owned NTPC's green energy arm NTPC REL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UT administration to set up the nation's maiden green hydrogen mobility project, reports Economic Times.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Lt Governor RK Mathur, senior dignitaries of Government, NTPC and public representatives. The MoU will help Ladakh develop a carbon-free economy based on renewable sources and green hydrogen.
In addition to this, NTPC also inaugurated the first solar installations in Leh in the form of solar trees and a solar carport. It has also planned to operate five hydrogen-driven buses in the region. It has also planned to set up a solar plant and a green hydrogen generation unit in Leh.
Recently, NTPC had also commissioned India’s largest floating solar project of 10 megawatts (MWs) at Visakhapatnam. It had also recently revised its target of achieving 60 gigawatts (GWs) renewables capacity by 2032. This is almost double the target set by NTPC earlier.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
