Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday (29 November) said the state government will increase the credit linkage for women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to Rs 1,000 crore this year.
Addressing a state-level women's convention in Bhubaneswar, the chief minister said:
We have decided to increase the credit linkage from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore for the SHGs this year. It will help in increasing the socio-economic condition of the women.
Patnaik said the government has set a target to double the income of the women's SHGs, adding that the government is providing loan at 1 per cent interest to the women's SHGs in the state.
Describing the Mission Shakti programme a success, he said the scheme has included over 50 lakh women and it has brought changes in the life of people in villages.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
