Pakistani Fighter Jets Flying Close To Siachen, Forward PAF Bases Declared Operational: Pakistan Media

Fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) are flying near the Siachen Glacier, the northernmost part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is under Indian control, Samma TV has reported. According to the channel, all forward operating bases of the PAF have been made fully operational.

Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff Sohail Aman visited Qadri Airbase of the PAF in Skardu today (24 May). Pakistan is reportedly conducting a war exercise at this airbase, located 137km away from the Siachen Glacier in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan. The air chief also took part in the exercises, flying a Mirage jet himself.

Speaking to the media at the airbase, Aman said the PAF is prepared to take on India, adding that no situation is difficult for his forces. "The nation should not worry about the enemy’s statements," Geo News quoted him as saying.

The PAF's manoeuvre comes just a day after Indian Army, in a rare move, released a video of Pakistani bunkers being destroyed by Indian forces in Nowshera sector. Soon after, Pakistan’s military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor called the Indian claim ‘false’ and issued a video which he claimed showed his army shelling Indian positions after an “unprovoked ceasefire violation” on 13 May.

However, the Indian Air Force has flatly rejected Pakistan’s claim of flying fighter jets near the Siachen Glacier.
